ARGOS ALLIANCE

To improve understanding and protection of the Earth's environment and its living resources through a continued federal investment in Argos, a unique, worldwide tracking and monitoring system that provides global coverage and platform location by satellite.

The Argos Alliance is a global user group of scientists, natural resource managers, international governing authorities, and organizations who depend upon the Argos satellite system for environmental satellite data communications.  The Argos Alliance is a consortium of users who support a continued international investment for ongoing environmental data collection programs.

The Argos Alliance consists of:

  • Wildlife Biologists

  • Climatologists

  • Oceanographers

  • Meteorologists

  • Environmentalists

  • Platform Manufacturers

  • State, Tribal, Federal and International Resource Managers

The Argos program is administered under a joint agreement between the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the French Space Agency, Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales (CNES)

Argos relies on the strength of international partners in agencies like NOAA (the NOAA Satellite Information System), CNES, and EUMETSAT and ISRO to integrate Argos platforms and launch satellites.

The Argos Alliance is a consortium of international Argos users who have a unified voice to support the continued investments in the Argos system. A timely replacement of satellites carrying the Argos payload is needed to ensure continuity of critical environmental data streams while securing Argos space technology for the coming decade.
